And Out Come The Wolves – Rancid
I shamefully admit, I’ve only just started listening to Rancid – yeah I know, what have I been doing?!! They are not the band that I always thought they were. They sound like the band The Clash could have been.
Music Must Destroy – Ruts DC
We supported Ruts DC recently – I realised I loved them when I was 17 and I love them now.
Voodoo Eye – The Witchdoktors
Great London garage rock’n’roll band, seen them live loads of times. Love it.
Tribal – Imelda May
I’m just a sucker for her vocals and I love a bit of classy rockabilly.
Greatest Hits – Tom Petty
I was playing this a few days before he died. How can one man write all those great tunes? Just brilliant.
And here are five albums that probably changed my world and I can’t imagine being without them:
Generation X – Generation X
This was on my turntable for about two years! Influential and underrated.
I’m Stranded – The Saints
The Ramones before the Ramones were the Ramones! Nothing was the same after this. This album launched a few Guitar Gangsters songs.
Dookie – Green Day
I loved it and hated them at the same time. Shit, that was what we were doing!! Okay maybe they were just a bit better at it!
The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust – David Bowie
For me, his one moment of brilliance. Every track was just so original. Wikipedia call it „protopunk“.
Sex, Love & Rock’n’Roll – Social Distortion
Another band I ignored cos I thought they were something else (not sure what). I picked this up in 2008 and play it constantly. I can’t say why, but the whole thing just works.
And my guilty pleasure?
Anything by Jim Steinman and Meatloaf! Yeah I just love the drama, the stories, the mad production and each song is like a great film. Totally bonkers!

Musím zahanbeně přiznat, že jsem začal Rancid poslouchat až teď. Já vím – co jsem celou tu dobu dělal? Rancid nejsou takoví, jaký jsem si myslel, že jsou. Rancid znějí jako kapela, jakou klidně mohli být The Clash.
Ruts DC – Music Must Destroy
Nedávno jsme Ruts DC předskakovali. Zjistil jsem, že jsem je miloval v sedmnácti, stejně jako dneska.

Hlasu Imeldy May nedokážu odolat a miluju trochu toho stylového rockabilly.
Tom Petty – Greatest Hits
Tohle jsem si pouštěl pár dní před Pettyho smrtí. Jak sakra dokázal jeden člověk napsat tolik skvělých písniček? Jednoduše úžasné.

Ramones dřív, než Ramones byli Ramones. Po téhle desce už nic nebylo stejné jako dřív. A taky rozjela hned několik písniček od Guitar Gangsters.

David Bowie – The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars
Pro mě je tohle jeden z Bowieho brilantních momentů. Každá z písniček na tomhle albu byla tak originální. A Wikipedia to označuje za protopunk!

Další z kapel, které jsem ignoroval, protože jsem myslel, že je to něco jiného (a nejsem si jistej co). Tohle album jsem sehnal v roce 2008 a pouštěl pořád dokola. Neumím říct proč, prostě to celé funguje.
A moje tajná vášeň? Cokoliv od Jima Steinmana a Meatloaf! Prostě miluju drama, zápletky, příběhy, šílenou produkci a každý jejich song je jak perfektní film. Úplně bláznivý!
